Pune: Crime Branch nabs robbers who planned to loot jewellery shop near Magarpatta City

Pune, August 13, 2020: With the number of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) increasing, thousands of criminals across the state were released on parole. Taking advantage of this, a gang of robbers gathered to prepare for robbery at a famous jewellery shop near Magarpatta City in Hadapsar. But before that, the police arrested them.

Acting on a tip-off received by ASI Kishore Shinde, Head Constable Santosh Kshirsagar and Police Naik Atul Sathe, Crime Branch Unit 3 arrested seven members of the gang on August 11 and recovered a 12-bore rifle, revolver, six cartridges, two axes, a Fortuner, a two-wheeler, totally worth Rs 14.74 lakh from them. They had planned to loot PN Gadgil jewellers shop.

The arrested persons have been identified as notorious goon Vishal alias Janglya Shyam Satpute (30) of Ghorpade Peth, Raju Shirish Shivsharan (28) of Thombrevasti, Pankaj Sadashiv Gaikwad (35) of Kalewadi, Akash Rajendra Sakpal (26) of Sukhsagar Nagar, Ganesh Maruti Kunjir (27) of Kunjirvasti, Rameshwar Balasaheb Kajle (33) of Wadgaon Sheri, and Rishikesh Rajendra Pawar (19) of Kalewadi.

 

According to police, Satpute was released on parole from jail about two weeks ago.  He is an accused goon Kunal Pol murder case.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP Bachchan Singh, ACP Shivaji Pawar supervised the investigation team which included Police Inspector Rajendra Mokashi, Sub-Inspector Kiran Adagale, police personnel Kishor Shinde, Deepak Mate, Rahul Ghadge, Dattatray Garud, Gajanan Ganbote, Santosh Kshirsagar, Atul Sathe, Machchindra Walke, Mehboob Mokashi, Praveen Tapkir, Sachin Gaikwad, Sandeep Talekar, Kalpesh Bansode, and Kailash Salunkhe.
