Pune Crime Branch Nabs Wanted Extortionist After Months on the Run

Pune: The Crime Branch, Unit 5, of Pune City Police has arrested a wanted accused involved in an extortion case registered at Paud Police Station under Pune rural police. The accused, identified as Ravi Narsingh Pawar (42), a resident of Laxmi Nagar, Hadapsar, had been on the run and allegedly misled police to evade arrest.
According to police officials, Case No. 548/2024 was registered against Pawar under multiple sections of the BNS including 308(5), 115(2), 352, 351(2), 189(2), 190, and 191(2), as well as Sections 39 and 45 of the Maharashtra Money Laundering Act, 2014.
Acting on a tip-off received by policeman Amit Kamble, a team from the Crime Branch, Pune City, Unit 5 conducted a raid on March 12, 2025, near the garbage depot in Hadapsar Industrial Area. Pawar was found at the location and was immediately apprehended.
The operation was led by Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande and executed by Vijay Kumar Shinde, Pratap Gaikwad, Amit Kamble, Vinod Shivle, Rajas Sheikh, Shashikant Nale, Tanaji Deshmukh, Sachin Memane, Swati Gawade, and Umakant Swami under the directives of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Ganesh Ingle.
