Pune: Crime Branch Seizes 95 kg Ganja Worth Rs 99.93 Lakh, Four Arrested
Pune, 20th March 2026 : The Pune city police’s Crime Branch has seized 95 kg of ganja valued at Rs 99.93 lakh and arrested four persons in connection with the case, officials said on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off received during patrolling, police learnt that a consignment of ganja was being transported in a car for sale. A trap was subsequently laid near Bolhaimata temple on the Kesnand–Wadebolhai road.
Police intercepted a white Swift Dzire car, allegedly fitted with a fake number plate, and found 95 packets of ganja concealed inside the vehicle. The total seizure, including the car, was estimated to be worth around Rs 99 lakh.
The four accused have been identified as Miva Kalidas Waghmare (36), Vishnu Bhagwat Waghmare (25), Hari Shripati Dabale (32), and Manoj Anil Surwase (29), all residents of Karamala in Solapur district.
During interrogation, the accused told police that the contraband had been brought to Pune for sale. Based on further investigation, police also recovered an additional 18 kg of ganja from their residence in Dharavi Chawl in Karmala in Solapur district.
In total, 95 kg of ganja along with the vehicle has been seized, with the overall value pegged at Rs 99.93 lakh, police said.
A case has been registered at Lohegaon police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused were produced before a court, and further investigation is underway.
