Pune Crime Branch shuts down prostitution business in Wagholi lodge

Wagholi, 2nd March 2023: The Social Security Cell (SSC) of the Crime Branch has busted a prostitution ring operating out of a lodge in the Wagholi, resulting in the detention of four individuals, including a Bangladeshi girl. The police have registered a case against the lodge manager and brokers involved in the illegal business.

The accused have been identified as Limbaji Sakharam Waghmare, aged 29 and a resident of Alandi Phata, Laneikand, and Praveen Shekhar Pujari. Waghmare has been arrested, and a case has been filed against both of them for luring young women into prostitution by offering money. Police Constable Manisha Pukale filed a complaint in this regard at Lonikand Police Station, Pune city police.

Acting on information received, a police team raided the Jaibhavani Lodge in Wagholi, leading to the detention of the Bangladeshi girl and three women from West Bengal. The three women have been placed in an observation house in Hadapsar on the orders of the court.

The accused were taken into custody under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Ramnath Pokale, DCP Amol Zende, Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav, Assistant Inspector Ashwini Patil, Rajendra Kumawat, Manisha Pukale, Tushar Bhivarkar, and Hanumant Kamble.
