Pune: Cyber Fraudsters Dupe Two Senior Citizens of Rs 3.14 Crore
Pune, 31st March 2026: Cyber fraudsters in the city have cheated two senior citizens of a total Rs 3.14 crore in separate incidents, police said. In one case, a senior citizen from Sahakarnagar was duped of Rs 1.52 crore on the pretext of providing guidance for stock market investments. In another incident, a senior citizen from Kothrud was defrauded of Rs 1.62 crore after being threatened with legal action.
Two separate cases have been registered at the cyber police station in Shivajinagar.
According to police, in the Sahakarnagar case, the fraudsters first contacted the complainant on December 7 last year through a message, offering assistance with stock market investments. Lured by the promise of guidance and returns, the victim was gradually drawn into the scheme.
Police said the victim transferred a total of Rs 1.52 crore to accounts provided by the accused in multiple transactions between December and February.
However, no returns were received, and the victim later realised he had been cheated and approached the police.
