Pune Cyber Police Detain Three for Circulating Obscene Content about NCP Leader Rupali Chakankar

Pune, 6th December 2023: Pune Cyber Police have taken swift action by detaining three individuals for circulating obscene content on social media about Rupali Chakankar, a leader associated with the Nationalist Congress Party NCP (Ajit Pawar Faction) and the chairperson of the State Women’s Commission. The complaint was filed by Chakankar’s brother, Santosh Borate.

The explicit content about Rupali Chakankar was reportedly circulated on Facebook by individuals named Vikas Sawant, Jayant Patil, Ranjitraje Hattimbare, and Amol K Patil. Santosh Borate, dissatisfied with the inappropriate posts, filed a complaint with the Pune Cyber Police, leading to swift action.

The Pune Cyber Police Station registered a case against the individuals involved in circulating the obscene content. The cyber police, under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokle, utilized technical analysis to trace the suspects.

Jayant Ramchandra Patil, a resident of Sangli, was arrested on November 24. However, due to his mental health condition, his mobile phone was seized after following the procedures outlined in the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). Another suspect, Vasant Rameshrao Khule, aged 34 and residing in Parbhani, was detained from Rahati on November 26 based on technical information obtained from Facebook. A third suspect, Pradeep Kanse, has also been detained and issued a notice.

The investigation was conducted under the guidance of ACP RN Raje and Senior Inspector Meenal Supe Patil. The team included Police Sub-Inspector Snehal Adsule, Police Sub-Inspector Vidya Sable, Police Constable Santosh Jadhav, Dinesh Markad, Shrikrishna Nagtilak, Uma Palve and Sunil Sonone.
