Pimpri, 6th December 2023: Amidst growing concerns over increasing air pollution in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and other cities, the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has taken decisive action by passing measures and guidelines to address the deteriorating air quality. Additionally, the Bombay High Court has initiated Suo Moto Public Interest Litigation to address the air quality concerns in Mumbai and other cities across Maharashtra.

In response to the pressing need to curb air pollution, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has proactively developed a Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This comprehensive plan aims to mitigate the adverse effects of air pollution and has been made available to the public for objections and suggestions.

The GRAP is designed to combat the rising levels of air pollution in Pimpri Chinchwad and ensure the well-being of its residents. Recognizing the importance of public input, PCMC has opened the plan for citizen objections and suggestions. This participatory approach ensures that the concerns and insights of the community are taken into account.

The GRAP document is accessible on the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s website. Citizens are encouraged to review the plan and contribute their feedback. The citizen engagement period for objections and suggestions is from 5th December 2023 to 19th December 2023.

Citizens can submit their objections and suggestions via email to [email protected] or in writing to the Department of Environmental Engineering, 2nd Floor, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Citizens need to register their objections and suggestions by 19th December 2023.

The implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan underscores the commitment of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to collaborative efforts in combating air pollution. By actively involving citizens in the decision-making process, PCMC aims to create a more resilient and sustainable environment for everyone.
