Pune Cybercrime: Woman Booked For Buying iPhones With Stolen Credit Card

Pune, 22nd March 2023: A case of cybercrime has been reported in Pune, where a female accused, Pratishka Avinash Choure, resident of Tilak Residency in Bhosari, has been booked for a fraudulent act that resulted in a loss of approximately Rs 3.92 lakhs.

The fraud was committed by obtaining OTP from the customer, Sangeeta Hanumant Gaikwad (46), a resident of Parvati, to decline her IDFC Bank credit card, and then use it to buy six iPhones.

The incident occurred between September and October of 2021 and an FIR has been registered at Dattawadi Police Station. Pratiksha Choure allegedly called Gaikwad, claiming that her IDFC Bank credit card had been declined. Choure then requested the OTP that Gaikwad had received and proceeded to withdraw approximately Rs 2.71 lakhs from her bank account, buying four iPhones in the process. Choure also managed to buy two more iPhones in Gaikwad’s name using documents taken from her friend, Akshay.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
