Pune, 30th April 2025: The iconic Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple was decked in festive splendor on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, as 11,000 mangoes were offered to Lord Ganesh in a grand ritual. The temple was transformed into a vibrant mango-themed sanctuary, with elaborate decorations made from mangoes and flowers adding to the devotional atmosphere.

The celebration was organized jointly by the Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple Trust and Suvarnayug Tarun Mandal. Devotees began arriving in large numbers from the early morning hours to witness the unique offering and seek blessings.

The mangoes were donated by Desai Bandhu Ambewale, a well-known mango merchant family from Pune, led by Mandar Desai. This symbolic gesture aimed to mark the abundance and auspiciousness associated with Akshaya Tritiya.

The day’s rituals began at 3 a.m. with a Vedic abhishek (ritual bath), followed by a devotional music performance by Vedashree Khadilkar Oak. A special Ganesh yag (fire ritual) was held between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, adding spiritual depth to the celebration.

Temple trustees said the tradition of offering seasonal fruits like mangoes to the deity represents gratitude and prosperity and draws thousands of devotees each year.
