Pune: DCM Ajit Pawar Asks Officials To Prepare DPR For Extension of Metro Routes With Integrated Flyovers Till Wagholi and Loni Kalbhor

Pune, 21st Oct 2023: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has directed officials to conduct feasibility studies and prepare a detailed plan for elevated flyovers and metro routes connecting Phoenix Mall to Kharadi- Wagholi on Ahmednagar road and Bhairoba Nala to Loni Kalbhori on Solapur road. The instructions were given during a meeting organized to discuss road and metro integration in the city.
The meeting, held in coordination with metro authorities, was attended by MLAs Sunil Tingre and Chetan Tupe, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Mahametro’s Executive Director Shravan Hardikar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Binawade, Dr. Kunal Khemnar, Vikas Dhakane, and former municipal councilors from the Pune Municipal Corporation.
Hardikar presented a presentation on the connection between Ahmednagar Road and Khadki through the National Highway Authority’s flyovers through Puner Metro under the Mass Rapid Transit System. A detailed proposal for Phase-2 of the Pune Metro has been submitted to the Urban Development Department, he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister has asked the officials to prepare a plan for expansion of Metro connectivity from Swargate to Loni Kalbhor. He stressed the need for integrated road solutions having flyovers, metro connectivity from Bhairoba Nala to Loni Kalbhor on Solapur road. He also said that considering the increasing vehicular population, the officials may have to think about extension of Pune Metro between Loni Kalbhor and Uruli Kanchan.
Hardikar provided an overview of the metro project, stating that the entire metro route from Vanaz to Ramwadi is scheduled to be fully operational and functional by December 2023. After a successful integration with PMPL buses, the metro system is expected to attract a significant number of passengers, he further added.
