Pune: DCM Fadnavis Criticises Pawar and Sule Over Foreign Investment Claims During Khadakwasla Campaign

Khadakwasla, 15th November 2024: Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, visited the Khadakwasla constituency to support Mahayuti’s sitting MLA Bhimrao Tapkir from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections. The event was attended by key leaders, including Rajesh Pandey, Pradeep Rawat, Ramesh Konde, and several others from Mahayuti.
Fadnavis outlined the Maharashtra Government’s efforts to improve infrastructure in Pune, including plans to liberate the city’s slums and provide credit notes for areas newly included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). He explained that new villages joining the PMC would be charged property taxes according to Gram Panchayat rates for the first five years before transitioning to municipal taxes based on the developed infrastructure.
In his address, Fadnavis praised the significant developments in Pune since the Modi-led government came to power in 2014. He highlighted the fast-paced construction of Pune Metro, the upcoming multi-modal transport hub at Swargate, and the transformation of Chandni Chowk, which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion. He also emphasised plans to construct alternative roads and a new ring road for Pune, set to be completed within three years. Fadnavis further addressed environmental concerns, including efforts to prevent river pollution and beautify the city’s river areas.

Fadnavis also criticised Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule for misleading the public about Gujarat’s rising investments. He accused them of acting like “ambassadors of Gujarat” and claimed that Maharashtra’s foreign investment had fallen under their watch. According to Fadnavis, under the current government, 52% of foreign investment is flowing into Maharashtra, leaving Gujarat far behind.
MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, nominated for the fourth time in Khadakwasla, expressed gratitude for the continuous support from the constituency. He outlined his development efforts in both rural and urban areas and requested assistance from the state government to widen roads to ease traffic congestion and reduce taxes in the 32 villages newly included in Pune. He also called for a comprehensive development plan to streamline house groupings and simplify tax processes.
