Pune: Death Toll Climbs To 11 In Candle Factory Fire Case
Pune, 14th December 2023: Two individuals, including a young girl, succumbed to their injuries on Thursday following the fire at a sparkler candle factory in Talwade. The devastating incident has raised the death toll to 11.
Priyanka Yadav, 32, breathed her last at 2 am, and Eksha Torane, 18, passed away at Sassoon Hospital at 6:30 am.
This adds to the six women who lost their lives on the spot during the fire accident on December 8. Ten others were injured and rushed to Sassoon Hospital in Pune for immediate medical attention.
Tragically, the toll continued to rise as Pratiksha Torane, 16, and Kavita Rathod, 45, succumbed to their injuries on December 9, while Shilpa Rathod, 31, lost her battle on December 10 during treatment at Sassoon Hospital. The recent casualties of Priyanka Yadav and Eksha Torane on Thursday have further heightened the gravity of the incident.
The injured survivors, including Usha Padvi, Suman Ganage, Komal Chaure, Renuka Tathod, and Sharad Sutar, are currently under treatment at Sassoon Hospital.
In response to the ongoing crisis, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has established a relief room at Sassoon Hospital to extend crucial support to the injured patients and their families affected by the Talwade fire accident. Twenty-four medical officers and two assistants have been appointed to provide necessary assistance during this challenging time.
