Pune: Dehu Road Cantonment Board Receives Defence Minister Award for Exceptional Urban Development in 2022-23

Dehu Road, 29th December 2023: In recognition of outstanding urban development efforts, the Dehu Road Cantonment Board has been honoured with the prestigious Defence Minister Award for the year 2022-23 on behalf of the Ministry of Defence. The award acknowledges the commendable initiatives undertaken by the Cantonment Board in various spheres of urban development.

The Defence Minister Award highlights several key accomplishments by the Dehu Road Cantonment Board during the triennium 2022 to 2025. Notable achievements include the innovative use of drones for tax assessment, the establishment of a seven-bed intensive care unit at Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital, collaboration with the NGO ‘Muktangan’ to enhance the quality of education in Cantonment schools, and the strategic planning for tap water supply in urban areas lacking access to drinking water.

The involvement of the NGO ‘Muktangan’ in improving the quality of education in Cantonment schools underscores the importance of community partnerships in fostering educational excellence. The planned tap water supply in urban areas without access to drinking water is a crucial step towards addressing fundamental needs.

Pushpanjali Rawat, the Chief Executive Officer of Dehu Road Cantonment, expressed gratitude and pride in announcing the Defence Minister Award.
