Singh, in a statement to The Indian Express, reassured citizens regarding the new variant’s severity, stating, “There is no cause for alarm, but it is crucial for us to remain vigilant and cautious.” Specifically addressing vulnerable groups, such as seniors and individuals dealing with health conditions like diabetes or hypertension, Singh advocated for the proactive usage of masks as an added layer of protection.
Asserting the city’s healthcare readiness, Singh highlighted the preparedness of local hospitals to swiftly cater to COVID patients. “Our medical facilities are primed and equipped to accommodate patients promptly. Presently, there isn’t a noticeable trend of increased hospital admissions. All hospital beds are well-equipped with essential oxygen support,” Singh affirmed.

Stressing on the mild nature of these cases, Dr. Gofane assured, “Among these cases, four individuals are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, while the rest are recuperating under home care.”
