Pune: Despite Running ‘Lucky Draw’ Initiative, Property Tax Worth Over Rs 8,500 Yet To Be Recovered In PMC

Pune 22nd August 2023: Despite announcing several initiatives to ensure timely recovery of property tax in Pune, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is yet to recover around Rs 8,500 Crore of property tax from citizens. The civic body last had taken a strict action against around 1,400 properties by sealing them over non-payment of property tax and around Rs 100 Crore of dues were also recovered during the same period.

However, around 41% citizens who own land in the PMC jurisdiction have not paid their property tax till August 2 deadline. A total of around 12 lakh property owners were liable to pay the tax while around over 5 lakh are yet to pay their due amount.

The Pune Municipal Corporation had launched ‘Lucky Draw’ initiative for those who make payment within the deadline. Attracting prizes such as cars, electric scooters, laptops and mobile phones were announced for the lucky winners. Besides, the civic body also provides concession to the property owners who make their tax payments within the deadline.
