Pune: Work Order To Set Up 300 PMPML Bus Shelters Issued, 90 Of Them To Be In Service Within Three Months
Pune 22nd August 2023: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has finally issued a work order to set up a total of 300 bus shelters at various locations across the city. The stainless steel bus shelters will be installed in the city before August next year. However, work on around 90 of these bus shelters is expected to be completed within the next three months period and they are likely to be in service by the end of November.
It may be noted that the PMPML had floated tender for new bus shelters around three years ago but it had not received any taker. Finally, the newly appointed Chairman and Manging Director (CMD) asked the officials to make some changes in the tender and issue a new tender. Aftet this the PMPML found an agency which has taken up a task to install 300 bus shelters across the city.
The transport body currently has around 5,000 bus stops in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and PMRDA region and around 1,130 bus shelters have been installed including those installed in the BRT lanes.
