Pune District: 33,000 Students Out Of School Due To COVID Pandemic

Pune, 15th June 2021: Nearly, 33,370 students have migrated to their place of origin owing to the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in moving out of the school. Several children have migrated from the taluka, city and state to their native places as many lost their livelihoods during the pandemic.

This was revealed during a survey conducted by the Education Department. In the Pune region nearly 7,314 children have migrated from talukas, 11,972 from the district and 14, 084 children have migrated from Maharashtra.

In the Pune district, 162 children have migrated from one taluka to another so that they can seek admission in the schools at their native places. As many as 724 children were migrated out of Pune district while 229 from Maharashtra.

“Pune Zilla Parishad will ensure that those children who have migrated from other states or districts to Puinill be included into the schools. These children will not stay away from education”, said Ranjit Shivtare, vice-president, ZP.
