Pune District: 5 Women And 4 Students Among 9 Persons Drowned To Death In 2 Separate Incidents Today
Pune, 19th May 2022: In two separate incidents at Chaskaman dam backwater in Khed taluka and Bhatghar dam backwater in Bhor taluka, nine persons including five women and four students drowned today.
In the first incident, four students of Krishnamurti Foundation’s Sahyadri school who had gone for swimming in Chaskaman dam backwater, drowned. They included two boys and two girls. Their bodies have been taken out of the water.
The incident in Bhor taluka took place in Narhe village, situated on the bank of Bhatghar dam backwater, around 5 pm. The women are from the Kanjarbhat community. One girl was rescued.
The bodies of three women have been fished out by the youths from Katkari community of Narhe village. Police have launched the rescue operation with the help of Sahyadri Search and Rescue Force. Sub-Divisional officer Rajendra Kachre, Tehsildar Sachin Patil and Police Inspector Sachin Patil of Rajgad police station reached the spot with their teams to supervise the rescue work.
The deceased have been identified as Khushbu Lankesh Rajput (19) of Bavdhan, Manisha Lakhan Rajput (20), Chandani Shakti Rajput (21), Poonam Sandip Rajput (22), all residents of Santoshnagar in Hadapsar and Monika Rohit Chavan (23).
