Pune District Plans To Invest Rs 200 Crore In Historic Site Conservation And Development

Pune, 25th April 2023: The development and conservation of ancient structures, forts, and historical and religious places in the Pune district will be given priority in the upcoming year 2023-24. This move is aimed at boosting tourism in the district and creating employment opportunities. The District Annual Plan is being used to plan for the development of these sites.

District Collector Rajesh Deshmukh emphasized the importance of preserving history and national pride through the conservation and development of these sites. He also said that attention will be paid to maintaining the original architecture and ancient style while doing the works of historical and religious places through the Department of Archaeology. The conservation of forts and forts is being given priority to preserve the district’s history and boost tourism.

The development plan worth Rs 269 crore 24 lakh for Chhatrapati Shri Sambhaji Maharaj’s sacrificial place Mauje Tulapur in Haveli taluka and Samadhisthal Vadhu in Shirur taluka has already been initiated. The tender process for the development plan has been released on the death anniversary of Chhatrapati Shri Sambhaji Maharaj, and both works are planned to be started before Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary (May 14).

Under the Shrikshetra Jejuri Development Plan, the tender process for the works under the development plan of Rs 109 crore 57 lakh has been started. The development plan is being initiated with the tender for the conservation work of the main temple. The Shri Sant Jagnade Maharaj Development Plan at Mauje Sadumbare in Maval taluka has also been approved, and a plan of Rs 62 crore 93 lakh has been submitted to the Divisional Commissionerate for government approval.

Additionally, the Rs 43 crore 23 lakh Ashtavinayak Development Plan has been submitted to the Summit Committee chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for approval. The Martyr Shivram Hari Rajguru Memorial Development Plan is being revised and submitted to the government.

District Planning Officer Kiran Indalkar informed that a plan of at least Rs 200 crore is being planned so that the place of infinite sacrifice of the revolutionaries of the country should inspire and energize everyone and make it a national-level inspiration centre.
