Pune District Receives 88,000 Doses Of Vaccines
Pune, 4th June 2021: The Pune district received 88,000 vaccines on Thursday. The officials said that it will help to boost the vaccination drive in the district. They will be distributed to all the tehsils and cantonments in Pune districts.
The vaccination drive had slowed down in the district due to a shortage of vaccines. Many vaccination centres were closed due to the same and the administration had to stop the vaccination for the people between 18 to 44 age group.
The district administration ordered to prioritize the vaccination for senior citizens and the second dose of vaccination. The administration had urged for more supply of vaccines, considering the need. Thus, the government has provided 88,000 vaccines which include 79,350 doses of Covishield and 9000 doses of Covaxin. These vaccines will be given to the Gram Panchayat, Nagar Parishad, and cantonments. It will be distributed by the Zilla Parishad.
President of Zilla Parishad Nirmala Pansare said, “Compared to Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Pune Gramin region has received less than 30 percent vaccines. The total population of the rural area is about 50 lakh and it has a capacity of 90,000 vaccination per day, but because of vaccine shortage, the centres were not able to run at their full capacity.”
