Pune, 12th February 2025: Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has issued an order allowing the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers from 6 AM to 12 AM for 15 days during various festivals and events in 2025. This relaxation comes under the Central Government’s Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Amended Rules of 2017.
The order specifies the following dates for relaxed noise restrictions:
* 19th February: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Birth Anniversary (Shiv Jayanti)
* 14th April: Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti
* 1st May: Maharashtra Day
* 1st-6th September: Ganesh Festival, Eid-e-Milad, and Anant Chaturdashi
* 1st and 2nd October: Navratri Festival
* 25th December: Christmas
* 31st December: New Year’s Eve
Additionally, two days of relaxation may be granted for other important events as needed.
While allowing the use of loudspeakers and sound amplifiers during these periods, the order emphasises that the prescribed noise limits must still be maintained. The relaxation does not apply to silence zones, and all relevant authorities are responsible for enforcing this restriction.
The order also stipulates that Rules 3 and 4 of the Noise Pollution Rules, 2000, and Rule 5(3) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Amended Rules of 2017 must be followed. Noise levels should not exceed the limits set for different zones.
