Pune, 10th May 2023: The Ministry of Railways has initiated the implementation of the Amrit Bharat Sthanak Yojana to revamp railway stations.

As part of this initiative, 15 stations in each railway section will undergo a significant transformation, including stations such as Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Hadapsar, Chinchwad, and Akurdi in the Pune division.

The central government has launched the Amrit Bharat Sthanak Yojana, aiming to develop 1,275 stations across the country. Among them, 15 stations in the Pune division have been identified for transformation, which include Hadapsar, Chinchwad, Akurdi, Dehu Road, Talegaon, Kedgaon, Uruli, Baramati, Lonand, Vathar, Karad, Sangli, Hakanangle, Satara, and Kolhapur. These stations are scheduled to undergo a complete transformation by the end of the current financial year, reshaping their appearance within a year.

The development of each station will be carefully planned, considering the average number of daily passengers and the existing station design. The focus will be on developing passenger-oriented facilities and improving both the exteriors and interiors of the stations.

Milind Hirve, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Pune Division, stated that the selection of the 15 stations for development under the Amrit Yojana took into account their strategic locations with regard to religious and tourism aspects.

The transformation of these stations will include several improvements:
Enhancements to traffic management and beautification of station premises.
Development of modern station entrances.
Raising the height of platforms and providing sheltered covering.
Upgrades to the interior design and facilities, including improved toilets.
Installation of high-quality furniture for passenger comfort.
Construction of 12-meter-wide pedestrian flyovers wherever necessary.

The Amrit Bharat Sthanak Yojana is expected to bring about a remarkable change in the face of these stations, making them more efficient and passenger-friendly.
