The accused, identified as Rajesh Jain (47 years old, residing in Fort, Mumbai), lured the doctor into investing in his construction project under the pretence of offering her a flat worth double the amount she invested.

To solidify the trust he had gained, the accused sent a confirmation email to the doctor, stating that she had been allocated a flat on the twelfth floor of the building.

Subsequently, the accused managed to extract ₹89.58 lakh from the doctor, leaving the construction project incomplete. Despite the doctor’s requests for either the promised flat or the return on her investment, Jain responded with threats, stating, “I will not pay you any amount. Do whatever you want to do. I will not leave you and your family alive if you demand the money back.” Furthermore, he allegedly warned the doctor that he would file false charges against her, potentially leading to her imprisonment in Yerawada Jail.

The Nigdi police have launched an investigation into the case.
