Pune: Doctor Dies In Horrific Road Accident In Undri; Truck Driver Arrested
Undri, 8th January 2025: A tragic incident occurred earlier today in Pune’s Undri area when a female doctor riding a two-wheeler was killed instantly after being hit by a speeding truck. The accident has sparked outrage among local citizens.
The victim has been identified as Dr. Pranali Tanmay Date, a 34-year-old resident of Undri. The incident took place around 12:30 pm when Dr. Date was traveling from Undri towards Handewadi. A speeding truck coming from behind struck her vehicle, causing her to fall onto the road. The truck’s wheel then ran over her head, resulting in her immediate death. The accident was brutal, eyewitnesses said.
According to Anil Nimbalkar, Police Sub-Inspector of Kale Padal Police Station, the truck driver, identified as Pandurang Balbhim Bhosale (35, from Dharashiv), fled the scene after the accident. However, he was later tracked down and arrested based on CCTV footage.
Residents have expressed concern about the increasing number of heavy vehicles and dumper trucks in the area, describing it as a “death trap.” They report that minor accidents occur daily and have begun keeping necessary medical supplies on hand to treat at least one person every day.
The incident has highlighted the urgent need for proper traffic control and safety measures in the area. Citizens are calling on the administration to take immediate action to prevent further tragedies.
