Pune: Double-Decker Flyover On Ahmednagar Road To Start At Ramwadi Instead Of Wagholi, Grade Separator Approved At Shastrinagar Chowk

Yerwada, 23rd December 2023: In a significant development to alleviate traffic congestion on the Pune-Ahmednagar road, a decision was reached in a meeting chaired by Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar to construct a double-decker flyover on through the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), connecting directly to Ramwadi instead of Wagholi. Additionally, plans were approved to build a flyover and grade separator at Shastrinagar Chowk through the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Today’s meeting was a culmination of persistent efforts by MLA Sunil Tingre, who had continuously advocated for solutions to the city’s traffic issues. During the Nagpur winter session, Tingre had urged a meeting to make Nagar road signal-free, a promise fulfilled by Industry Minister Uday Samant.

Present at the meeting were Minister Samant, MLA Tingre, Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Pune Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Additional Commissioner Vikas Dhakne, Senior NHAI Officer Abhijit Awte.

The proposed double-decker flyover aims to address traffic congestion on Ahmednagar roads, providing a smoother flow from Shirur to Wagholi. However, a modification in the plan was approved to extend the flyover to Vimannagar-Ramwadi. Detailed project plans have been prepared, and instructions were given to NHAI to expedite the tender process.

To tackle traffic challenges at Shastrinagar Chowk, the Municipal Corporation will oversee the construction of a flyover and a subway (grade separator), with immediate initiation of the tender process.

The meeting also discussed the stalled Shivne-Kharadi road, with Pawar instructing municipal officials to expedite the land acquisition process and ensure the completion of the road for immediate public use. Moreover, Guardian Minister Pawar suggested that the Additional Commissioner conduct on-site inspections and take action regarding the construction of alternative roads from Dhanori, Santnagar, 509 Chowk to Dhanori, Vishrantwadi in the Vadgaon Sheri Legislative Assembly Constituency.

In a bid to enhance connectivity, Guardian Minister Pawar directed metro officials to connect the Pune Metro line from Nagar Road to Pune Airport, emphasizing the need for immediate action in this regard.
