Pune: Drowning Incident Claims Lives of Two Individuals at Kundamala Near Talegaon
Talegaon, 4th May 2024: Two individuals drowned while swimming at the Kundamala embankment on the Indrayani River on Thursday evening, the 2nd of the month.
The deceased have been identified as Sajid Sharif Bagwan, aged 20 and a resident of Nigdi, and Atiq Sharif Bagwan, aged 15 and a resident of Jalgaon.
According to reports, the two individuals ventured into the water for a swim on Thursday (2nd May) evening. They misjudged the water’s depth and encountered difficulties. Talegaon MIDC police were promptly notified of the incident and mobilized teams from Wildlife Protection Maval Sanstha, Apada Mitra Maval, and Shiv Durga Mitra Lonavala for assistance.
After an intense search effort lasting an hour and a half, the bodies of both individuals were recovered from the water by Nilesh Garade, Prashant Bhalerao, Ganesh Gaikwad, Bhaskar Mali, Avinash Karle, Sagar Bhegde, Anish Garade, and Ganesh Sondekar.
