Pune: Drunk 16-Year-Old Detained for Vandalizing 12 Vehicles After Being Denied Extortion
Chikhali, 10th February 2025: A 16-year-old boy went on a destructive rampage in Pimpri Chinchwad’s Chikhali area, damaging 12 vehicles parked along the roadside after being refused extortion money. The incident occurred around 2 AM yesterday, leading to significant property damage and one injury.
According to the police report filed by car driver Babasaheb Ankush Akhade (35) from Chinchwad at Chikhali Police Station, the intoxicated minor approached Akhade while he was parking his car. When the teenager demanded money and was refused, he began smashing the car’s windows with stones.
The young offender then proceeded to vandalize 11 other vehicles in the vicinity, including cars, tempos, and rickshaws, causing extensive damage. In an escalation of violence, he also seriously injured a security guard at a nearby society by striking him on the head with a hammer.
Local residents, who typically park their vehicles along the roadside in the More Wasti area, are now alarmed by the incident, which has resulted in substantial financial losses and raised security concerns.
The Chikhali Police have taken the minor into custody, and further investigation is underway.
