Pune: Drunken Youth Fires Gun in Wagholi; Arrested

Wagholi, 13th December 2024: In a shocking incident, a young man fired a gunshot into the air in Wagholi while under the influence of alcohol, causing panic in the area. The accused, identified as Vishal Kolte, has been arrested by the police, and an investigation is underway. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Thursday evening (12th December) when Kolte’s friend, Sandeep Hargude, was being taken to a de-addiction center in an ambulance. Vishal, who was heavily intoxicated, objected to his friend being admitted to the facility. Despite his protests, the staff at the center attempted to place Hargude in the ambulance.

In a fit of rage, Kolte fired a shot into the air using his licensed revolver and smashed the ambulance’s glass window with a stone. He then managed to pull Hargude out of the vehicle.

Alarmed residents immediately reported the incident to the police, who promptly arrived at the scene and detained Kolte. Authorities confirmed that both Kolte and Hargude were intoxicated at the time of the incident.
A case has been registered against Kolte under several sections of the BNS and the Arms Act. While initial rumors suggested that the ambulance was set on fire during the chaos, police clarified that no such incident occurred.

“The situation is under control, and the accused has been taken into custody. We are continuing our investigation,” a police official stated.
