Pune: E-Commerce Companies Not Allowed To Deliver Alcohol To Consumers

Pune, 18th April 2021: Consumers will not be able to get online liquor from companies that supply goods through e-commerce companies, during the curfew. Therefore, the consumers will have to get the contact number of hotels and restaurant bars near their homes and place an order for home delivery.

The state government has imposed a curfew till 7 am on May 1, to prevent coronavirus spread. Hotels, restaurants, and liquor stores have been closed for the customers during this period and only home delivery is allowed. There were queues in front of liquor stores after the announcement of the ban last year. As a result, liquor shops were closed during the curfew this year.

Superintendent of State Excise (Pune) Santosh Zagde said, “There is no provision in the law to supply liquor online. Therefore, citizens will not get alcohol at home through e-commerce companies. They have to contact the hotels and bars near their homes for home delivery.”
