With the iconic fort as its backdrop, the hour-long programme will combine ceremonial splendour with stirring martial and patriotic compositions, evoking pride, unity, and respect for those who protect the nation’s freedom.
Proud Heritage of the Bombay Sappers:
The Bombay Engineer Group and Centre, widely recognised as the Bombay Sappers, boasts a legacy dating back to 1820. Over the past two centuries, the regiment has served in every significant conflict — from the First Afghan War to modern military operations. Known for their engineering skill, gallantry, and adaptability, the unit lives by the motto “Sarvatra” (“Everywhere”), reflecting their readiness for any mission.
The regiment’s military band, comprising 34 skilled musicians, carries forward this tradition through music. Renowned for their precision and moving performances, they have graced national ceremonies, regimental gatherings, and public events, earning admiration across the country.
Organisers have called on citizens to gather at Shanivar Wada for this special Independence Day event, describing it as more than just a musical performance. It is a symbolic salute from soldiers to the people, strengthening the deep connection between the armed forces and the nation they serve.
As the Tricolour waves proudly above the fort, attendees will be encouraged to celebrate India’s freedom, pay homage to its defenders, and embrace the unity and sacrifice that define the country’s spirit.
