Pune: “Education And Journalism Should Be Directive To Society”: Experts At ‘Suryadatta Suryabharat Patrakarita Sanman 2024’ Ceremony

Pune, 23rd January 2024: “Education and Journalism are complementary to each other; Moreover, both of them work to build society. Formal education shapes a student, while an informal education makes a good human and society. We have to be focused on inclusive education too.”

Experts in journalism emphasized education and journalism to be a directive for society in the panel discussion organized by Suryadatta Group of Institutes. A theme of a panel discussion was ‘inclusive education and journalism’. Suryadatta Group of Institutes also felicitated 9 editors and 25 journalists from Pune for their remarkable contribution to the field of journalism on the occasion of Marathi Patrakar Din.

Sunjay Awate (Editor of Lokmat), Shridhar Loni (Editor of Maharashtra Times), Prakash Dubey (Group Editor of Bhaskar), Anand Agrawal (Editor of Aaj Ka Anand), Arun Nigavekar (Associate Editor of Saamana), Avinash Bhat (Editor of Prabhat), Shrikant Sabale (Editor of Punyanagari), Aniruddha Badave (Editor of Rashtrasanchar), Pandurang Sandbhor (President of Pune Shramik Patrakar Sangh) were felicitated as a guest of honor at the hands of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya (Founder President) & Sushma S. Chordiya (Vice President) of Suryadatta Group of Institutes. The program was conducted at Patrakar Bhavan, Navi Peth Pune. Prashant Pitaliya, Director, and Jivraj Chole, Advisory Board Member were present.

Shridhar Loni said, “Public education is the core of journalism. Education provides an opportunity to overcome inequality. In the last few years, the number of private educational institutions has increased & education has spread widely due to private educational institutions. However, education has become expensive. Therefore, it has become difficult for those who have no financial situation to get an education. It is necessary to try to find a way out of this. Six percent of GDP needs to be spent on education.”

Sunjay Awate mentioned that education and journalism both the fields have become universal. We are in the era of fake news and the virtual world. In that case, we need to work with vigilance, more conscious and fearless without compromising our moral values. Society-oriented journalism is needed today. Organizations that give direction to society and comprehensively develop the youth generation should be encouraged.

Prakash Dubey regretted the attacks on journalists and media. He said that the media must get protection for fearless journalism. Journalists should raise their voices together against this strangulation. Only if journalism survives, it will be possible to present the problems of society properly.

Anand Agrawal emphasized education and fearless journalism. He also appealed to students to gain practical knowledge while learning journalism. He congratulated the Suryadatta Group for providing inclusive, qualitative education for the last 25 years.

Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya congratulated all the journalists for their contribution to the respective field. He said that the media is the fourth pillar of our democracy. Journalism that promotes the good and attacks the bad is in the interest of the society. The encouragement given by the media has been invaluable in the journey of Surya Dutt Sanstha over the past 25 years. Newsreading should be an integral part of the routine of the youth, and citizens.
