Pune 13th Oct 2023: In a significant turn of events, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former minister of Maharashtra Eknath Khadse has received a major relief in the Bhosari land scam case. The court has granted him regular bail in connection with a case registered in Pune by a social activist.

During the tenure of the Devendra Fadnavis government in the state, while serving as the Revenue Minister, Eknath Khadse was accused of misusing his position to acquire an MIDC plot in Bhosari. Allegations were made against him for irregularities in the purchase of the land for which he faced legal consequences. Social activist Hemant Gaikwad had filed a complaint against Khadse, his wife Mandakini and son-in-law Girish Chaudhary at the Bund Garden police station. The matter was later investigated by the Enforcement Directorate and they had filed an ECIR in the case.

Khadse was already granted interim relief in the case. Now the Special PMLA court has granted him regular bail on the surety amount of Rs 2 lakh. He and his family members had been summoned by the ED officials for investigation on multiple occasions in the past. Eknath Khadse is claimed to be the first leader from the opposition party to get regular bail in any case filed by ED. It may be noted that Khadse was one of the senior leaders of BJP and later switched to NCP after he was sidelined by the party leadership.
