Pune: Elderly Man Cheated Of Nearly Rs 12 Crore By Making Forged Documents Of Bungalow In Kondhwa

Kondhwa, 11th February 2023: A senior citizen in the USA sent documents to sell a bungalow in Pune. Based on that document, the agents created a mortgage, took a loan of Rs 11.80 crore and defrauded the man.

In this case, the Economic offences wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch has arrested two men named Mudrik Merchant, a resident of Hadapsar, and Parvez Murtuza, a resident of Kondhwa. A case has been registered against Farida Merchant, Abid Sheikh, Ayesha, Dhananjay Rathod, Aslam Mujawar, and others. In this regard, a 70-year-old man from Kondhwa, who now resides in the USA, has filed a complaint at Kondhwa Police Station.

According to the information given by the police, the elderly man wanted to sell his bungalow, hence, he trusted his relatives and Abid Sheikh and sent him the bungalow documents.

Using the documents of the bungalow, fake PAN cards and the Aadhaar cards of the complainant and his wife were created and registered on that basis. By showing that the bungalow belonged to the accused, they took out a loan.

Assistant Police Inspector Ruikar is investigating the case further.
