Pune: Elderly Woman Brutally Killed, Jewellery and Cash Stolen in Shirur

Shirur, 24th April 2024: A 76-year-old woman was brutally murdered by a robber who decamped with jewellery and cash. The incident occurred between 10:30 PM on Tuesday (22nd April) and 6:00 AM on Wednesday (23rd April) in Jategaon Budruk, Shirur.

Nanda Amar Ingawale, aged 36 and a resident of Jategaon Budruk, complained to the Shikrapur Police Station regarding this crime. A case has been registered against the unknown thief. The victim has been identified as Krishnabai Dnyaneshwar Ingawale, aged 76 and also a resident of Jategaon Budruk.

According to the police, the deceased was the mother-in-law of the complainant. The complainant had a habit of locking the safety door of the house, where her mother-in-law resided, from the outside. On the night of the 22nd, at around 10:00 PM, she followed the same routine. However, when she returned the next morning, around 6:30 AM, she discovered signs of forced entry as the lock had been broken. She found the lifeless body of her mother-in-law inside the house. In her complaint, she reported the murder and also stated that gold jewellery worth Rs. 1,20,000 and Rs. 3,000 in cash had been stolen by the unknown thief.

In response to this incident, the Shikrapur Police have registered a case against the unknown thief under IPC sections 392 (punishment for robbery) and 302 (punishment for murder), and Assistant Police Inspector Pawar is actively investigating the matter further.
