Pune: Elderly Woman Dies in Flat Fire on NIBM Road, One Injured
Kondhwa, 9th February 2025: A devastating fire broke out in a flat on NIBM Road in Kondhwa on Sunday afternoon, resulting in the death of a woman and leaving an elderly man injured.
The incident occurred in Sunflower and Sunshree Society. Upon receiving the emergency call, personnel from the Kondhwa Fire Station rushed to the scene and began efforts to extinguish the flames. The fire reportedly started when household items inside the flat caught fire, quickly spreading within the premises.

Among the injured, 75-year-old Manoj Borkar was rushed to Command Hospital, while Vrindha Sangwar (65), who sustained severe injuries, was admitted to Sassoon Hospital.
The woman, who was trapped inside the burning flat, was rescued by fire personnel and taken to the hospital in critical condition. However, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment, according to the fire department.
The fire was eventually brought under control by the firefighters. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the blaze.
