Katraj, 17th March 2023: An employee at a Hyundai showroom in Katraj, Pune, has been accused of committing a financial fraud worth crores of rupees. The accused, Sai Praveen Nanjundappa of Dhayari, allegedly sold 46 cars to private individuals on the basis of fake gate passes. Additionally, he created two fake cheques in the name of CSD (canteen stores department) Depot, Khadki, and pretended they were real.

The incident came to light after Mohan Babanrao Trimbake filed a complaint against the accused. According to the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, the fraud took place between May 13, 2019 and December 17, 2022, at Hyundai Motors LLP, adjacent to Poddar International School, Katraj Bypass, Ambegaon.

The accused, Sai Nandandappa, was working in the showroom and misused the authority given by the company. He pretended to have received a huge order from 46 customers working in the Indian defence forces and created gate passes to release the vehicles from the company. He signed the passes himself and took out the cars from the company. These cars were then sold to private individuals, and the money was not deposited in the company’s account.

Furthermore, the accused duped the company into creating two fake cheques in the name of the Regional Manager, CSD Depot, Khadki. The money received from the sale of the cars was used for his own benefit.

An investigation is underway by Police Sub-Inspector Varsha Ghogare. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating and forgery. The police are currently trying to ascertain the exact amount of money involved in the fraud.
