Pune: Engineering Student Assaults Peer for Refusing to Act as Dummy in Exam

Kondhwa, 15th January 2024: A 19-year-old engineering student, Sahil Rajendra Dalkar, allegedly assaulted fellow student, Sumit Vijay Fulzale, after Sumit refused to act as a dummy in the Engineering Graphics examination. The incident, which occurred in Gaurav Society, Kondhwa, has led to a formal complaint filed by Sumit at the Kondhwa police station, Pune city police.

According to the police, both the victim and the accused are roommates. Sahil had an upcoming Engineering Graphics examination at Sinhagad Academy Engineering. Faced with the difficulty of the exam paper, Sahil urged Sumit to sit as a dummy in his place.

Despite Sahil’s persistence, Sumit declined to comply and refused to take the exam in Sahil’s place. Following this refusal, Sahil allegedly returned to their shared room and physically assaulted Sumit. The assault reportedly involved blows to the back of Sumit’s neck and below his ear, resulting in significant injuries.

The incident came to light when Sumit filed a complaint at the Kondhwa police station. PSI Balaji Digole is further investigating the case.
