Pune, 27th September 2022: An Indian Centre will be established at the City University of New York in the US. With this agreement, students can be at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and will be able to conduct research in American universities.
An MoU (Memorandum of understanding) for Savitribai Phule Pune University and Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University has been made for the first time.
A delegation of vice-chancellors of public universities in Maharashtra, under the guidance of Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, recently visited some universities in the United States. Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr Karbhari Kale, Head of Department of Technology, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Dr Aditya Abhyankar, participated in this delegation. A total of five MoUs were signed with the City University of New York during this visit. Through these agreements, it will be possible to implement dual degree courses, faculty-student exchange, and research projects.
Through an agreement to establish an India Centre at the City University of New York, affiliations were also established with affiliated institutions such as Bronx Community College, Borough of Manhattan Community College, and City University of New York Remote Sensing Earth System. An agreement with Drexel University will enable the biosciences graduate program to further enhance research opportunities. An agreement with the University of California would work on entrepreneurship development, science, and technology, among others.
SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Karbhari Kale expressed, “Through these agreements with American universities, it is possible to implement student professor exchange, dual courses, workshops, conferences, and research projects in the future. Many foreign students are interested in learning Indian art, music, yoga, and Ayurveda. Therefore, relevant courses can be started for foreign students as well.”
