Pune: Even After Unhappiness With Some Civic Works, Opinion Poll Finds Puneites Prefer BJP In Power Again At PMC

Pune, 20th May 2021: An opinion poll has predicted good news for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections next year. Expressing the view that the BJP should be given another chance, the survey also said that people see Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) as an alternative to the BJP.

In an opinion poll conducted by Sarvajna Media Services, which works in the field of content creation, election policy formulation and social media branding, Puneites have spoken openly on various issues. This is the conclusion. Voters from different parts of Pune had participated in this ‘opinion poll’ which was conducted with the help of Google Forms. Various questions were asked to the participating Punekars. Special care was taken to ensure that only the voters who cast their votes in Pune would participate.

When asked if BJP should be given another chance in Pune Municipal Corporation, 65% of the participants said yes. 18 percent of voters said no while 17 percent said it was difficult to say right now. If BJP is not in power, then which other party do you think should come to power in PMC, while answering this question, NCP has got the highest number of votes. 36.6 percent of people have opted for NCP. The citizens have expressed their faith in Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) after NCP. It was found that 34.4 percent of voters find MNS a promising option.

 

In the last four years, 18 percent people have given 10 out of 10 for the BJP’s administration in Pune Municipal Corporation. On the question of which leadership in the ruling BJP in the municipal corporation seems promising, most of the citizens have sealed the name of Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol. Dheeraj Ghate is in second place. However, the gap between the two is significant.

According to the survey, Punekars have not yet accepted BJP state president Chandrakant Patil. During the Covid period, Patil has worked extensively in the Kothrud constituency as well as in Pune through the party. However, he still has to settle for sixth place among the promising leadership options of the future.

Former Pune mayor and MLA Mukta Tilak is third, Hemant Rasne, a three-time standing committee chairman, is fourth and MLA Madhuri Misal is fifth. PMC leader of house Ganesh Bidkar is in eighth position, while city BJP president Jagdish Mulik is in ninth position.

Answering the question as to which leadership of the present opposition parties seems promising, most people chose MNS city president Vasant More. Among the opposition, veteran Congress corporator Aba Bagul has got the second preference. Ravindra Dhangekar, an independent corporator in the Pune Municipal Corporation, is in third place, while Arvind Shinde of the Congress is fourth and Prithviraj Sutar of the Shiv Sena is fifth. Former Pune mayor and new NCP city president Prashant Jagtap has to settle for seventh position. Hadapsar MLA Chetan Tupe has got the sixth preference.

Answering the question of how the corporators from all the wards of Pune felt about the work done in the last four years, the highest percentage of 31% of the citizens chose this option. A total of 26 percent of citizens like the work and 23 percent people like it very much. 8% of the citizens have said that the work done in the last four years is very bad.
