Pune, October 6, 2020: With the festival season arriving, the Pune District Sound, Light, Generator and Mandap Decorator have demanded resuming of operations.

Public events, big wedding ceremonies, events, cultural halls, theatres are not permitted. As a result, many businesses such as Sound, Light, LED Wall, Generators, Artists, Florists, Decorators, Pavilions, Videographers, Photographers, Bands, and Event Coordinators, have come to an end.

In this regard, the association has decided to stage a protest against the administration on October 7, for permitting them to resume the event management services in the city. “We have been giving our staff members salary from the last seven months because our financial state is terrible”, said Babloo Ramzani, president of the association.

“Event Management business has incurred a loss of Rs 50 crores within last six months”, he added.

The members also discussed concerns related to recovery agents. “Every other day finance agents knock doors and ask equated monthly installment (EMI) repayments as well”, Ramzani said.

Demands related to reopening of theatres were also pointed out in the press conference held at Patrakar Bhavan yesterday. “As many as five lakh people are dependent on the event industry in Pune. We demand to give us necessary permissions or the government should waive off our loans”, he appealed.

When asked about their next plan of action, the members said that if our demands are not met, the government will be responsible for any life loss. “Our lawns are more than 10,000 square feet. We demand reopening of events and we are ready to follow all the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) released by the government”, said Somnath Dhende while addressing the conference.

Even after repeated requests to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Minister Ajit Pawar, there is no response from their end, informed Ramzani.
