Pune: Event Manager Booked for Cheating IPS Officer, Failing to Complete Wedding Reception Décor
Pune, 22nd April 2026: Chatushrungi police have booked an event manager from Ahilyanagar for allegedly cheating an IPS officer and his family of Rs 10 lakh by failing to complete decoration arrangements for a wedding reception held earlier this year.
The complaint was filed on Monday by the officer’s sister, a 38-year-old resident of Aundh. According to the FIR, the IPS officer, currently posted in Uttar Pradesh, had recently got married in the city and had booked the Centre for Police Research on Pashan Road for his reception, which was attended by senior police officials. His family had assigned decoration work worth Rs 13 lakh to the event manager and paid Rs 10 lakh in advance.
However, the work was allegedly not completed on time. Even as guests began arriving and the reception was underway, decoration work was still in progress. By the time the event concluded and guests started leaving, the setup remained incomplete, leaving the family dissatisfied.
Senior inspector Uttam Bhajnawale of Chatushrungi police said the family felt cheated due to the incomplete and delayed execution of the work. “We have registered a case against the event manager and issued a notice to summon him for further inquiry,” he said. Further investigation is underway.
