Pune : Excise Dept Takes Action Against Rooftop Hotels In City, 23 Hotels Booked In Last Five Months
Pune 15th Sept 2023: The excise department of Pune region has intensified action against the rooftop hotels located in the city in the last few months. According to the officials, action was taken against a total of 112 hotels located in the district between April and September this year for various violations as per the rule. This includes 23 rooftop hotels that were found violating the norms.
A proposal has also been forwarded to the district collector office to take strict action including cancellation of license of 23 rooftop hotels that were found violating rules. Many of these hotels were found operating on the additional floors despite not having permission while the excise department has also taken action against hotels that were not maintaining the register needed as per the rule, said an excise department officer.
According to the excise department, action was taken against 173 hotels for various violations between April 2022 and March 2023. The municipal corporation has also increased action against the rooftop hotels for violation of the rules and details have also been forwarded to the district collector and Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA) for strict action.
The excise officials have also clarified that the permission given by the Excise department for rooftop hotels is secondary and FL-3 permits are given only after the concerned establishments get necessary license and approvals from the Foods and Drugs Administration and other concerned departments. The validity of the FL-3 permit also remains valid only for the period as permission granted by the other departments. The citizens are appealed to complain about suh establishments, rooftop hotels or liquor centers violating the rules to the excise department via email [email protected] or call on the excise department’s regional office on 020-26126321.
