Pune : FDA Asks Ganesh Mandals That Will Distribute Self-Prepared Prasad To Register On Official Website, Appeals To Ensure Cleanliness
Pune 15th Sept 2023 : The Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA) of Pune division has directed the Ganesh Mandals that will distribute ‘prasad’ to the devotees to register with FDA during the ganesh festival. The officials have also advised the ganesh mandals to prepare ‘prasad’ while adhering to cleanliness guidelines diligently.
“Prasad prepared for devotees should be stored in glass containers or transparent plastic coverings. This will ensure that prasad remains uncontaminated and free from dust, dirt, and insects. All individuals handling prasad should have clean hands, washed with soap, before commencing the work. People with contagious illnesses should refrain from participating in prasad preparation and distribution” FDA officials said.
“Those involved in prasad distribution should strictly follow personal hygiene rules. Avoid nose-picking, ear cleaning, scratching, spitting, nose blowing, eating tobacco or smoking. Maintain clean clothes, and use clean clothing for handling prasad. Those involved in prasad preparation should wear gloves, aprons, and cover their heads with caps and wear masks” the officials said.
The water used for prasad preparation and dish washing should be potable. Drinking water should be stored in clean containers with clean lids. Before using containers for dish washing, wash them with clean water and soap. For drying, use clean cloth towels and keep them in clean and dry places. Dispose of waste from raw food items and devotees in a waste bin with a lid. The FDA has also advised the ganesh mandals to ensure that the devotees are provided fresh food while distributing prasad.
Ganesh Mandals that are going to prepare and distribute the food for prasad themselves can register on the official website at https://foscos.fssai.gov.in by paying a fee of 100 rupees. After registering, they will receive a registration certificate from the Food and Drug Administration Department.
