Pune Experiences Heatwave as Monsoon Retreats; No Respite Expected for a Week

Pune, 10th October 2023: Pune is grappling with a heatwave as the monsoon season comes to an end across the state. The meteorological department forecasts that the hot conditions will persist for the next week. The maximum temperature in the city reached 34 degrees Celsius on Monday, two degrees above the seasonal average.

For the past two to three days, Pune has been experiencing temperatures higher than the seasonal average. On Monday, October 9th, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, marking a two-degree increase above the average. The meteorological department predicts that this trend will continue for at least the next week.

As the monsoon has retreated from most parts of the state, dry weather conditions are prevailing. There is currently no sign of rain in the forecast, intensifying the heat of the sun. Citizens are finding it increasingly difficult to venture outdoors during the daytime.

The heatwave is not limited to Pune; it is a statewide phenomenon. Vidarbha is also experiencing scorching temperatures. The highest temperature recorded in the state within the last 24 hours was 37.1 degrees Celsius at Brahmapuri. In some parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and Marathwada, the mercury has risen above 34 degrees.

The meteorological department has warned that by next Sunday, October 15th, the maximum temperature in Pune and surrounding areas could reach between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. With no rain in sight, residents will have to brace themselves for a hot and dry week ahead.

As the monsoon season retreats, Pune and other parts of the state are experiencing a heatwave. With temperatures rising above average and no rain forecasted, citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to beat the heat.
