Pune, 20th October 2025: Residents of Pune are experiencing a sudden change in weather as the monsoon withdraws from Maharashtra. Over the past two days, daytime temperatures have fallen from 36°C to 32°C, bringing a noticeable chill in the mornings despite lingering heat and humidity during the day.

The recent sporadic rains over the Ghats have contributed to the drop in temperatures. On Sunday, October 19, the Pune Meteorological Observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 32.3°C in Shivajinagar and Chinchwad. Other areas recorded similar readings: 31.8°C in Vadgaon Sheri and Baramati, 31.2°C in Pashan, 30.9°C in NDA, and 30.5°C in the Haveli region.

Punekars have expressed surprise at the abrupt shift in weather, describing the mornings as chilly while afternoons remain warm. The observatory has forecast clear skies over Pune city and surrounding areas for the next two days. However, cloudy conditions may develop after noon, with light showers expected at isolated locations on the district’s Ghats.

The withdrawal of the monsoon marks the beginning of Pune’s transition from the wet season to the onset of drier, post-monsoon weather.
