Pune: Externed Criminal Caught with Nearly 10 Kg of Ganja in Pimpri
Pimpri, 14th April 2025: An externed (tadipar) criminal was caught red-handed with nearly 10 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) in the Charholi area near Dabhade Sarkar Chowk. The arrest was made during a routine patrol by the Anti-Narcotics Squad.
According to Senior Police Inspector Santosh Patil of the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Assistant Police Inspector Vikram Gaikwad and a team comprising constables Kishor Pardeshi, Mayur Wadkar, Ganesh Karpe, Vijay Daundkar, Nikhil Varpe, and Ramesh Karke were patrolling the Charholi Budruk area under the jurisdiction of Dighi Police Station.
During the patrol, the team noticed a man acting suspiciously while sitting on a two-wheeler with a large nylon sack. On questioning, the suspect was identified as Bharat Waghmare, a resident of Daund, who has been externed from the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
A search of the sack revealed nearly 10 kg of ganja. The seized contraband and vehicle are valued at over ₹5.3 lakh.
Waghmare has a criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him at Chakan and Khadak police stations earlier this year. The Dighi Police have taken over the case and further investigation is underway.
