Kharadi, 14th April 2025: In a significant development showcasing civic cooperation and proactive governance, Nyati Elysia, a major residential society in Kharadi, has made substantial progress in resolving its prolonged water supply issues. This improvement comes following the active intervention of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and legal action initiated by residents.

A group of residents had earlier filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court seeking a resolution to the erratic and insufficient water supply. The matter is scheduled for hearing on April 17, when the PMC is expected to submit an affidavit detailing its response and actions taken.

For several months, residents of Nyati Elysia had been struggling with irregular water supply, raising concerns about daily inconvenience and long-term sustainability. With temperatures rising, the issue had worsened. The residents had served a legal notice to PMC on 10 January 2025, which was followed by the filing of the writ petition.

Simultaneously, another group of residents led by the chairman initiated direct dialogue with senior PMC officials to address the crisis. The PMC responded by deploying engineers to inspect the existing pipeline infrastructure, review water distribution schedules, and repair previously undetected leakages and blockages.

The PMC has since worked to implement a more equitable water distribution schedule for the society. Plans are also underway to connect Nyati Elysia to a more stable and consistent water supply network. During peak shortages, the PMC arranged for water tankers to ensure uninterrupted basic services, Maduskar added.

With immediate concerns addressed, the society is now focusing on long-term water management strategies, including rainwater harvesting and continued coordination with civic authorities to ensure sustainable water use.
