Pune: Extortion Case Against Those Forcing People For Ganeshotsav Donations – Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner

Pune, 25th August 2022: The Police Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad city, Ankush Shinde, has warned that strict action will be taken against those who forcefully ask for donations in the background of the Ganesh festival. Earlier, many people have been shackled in such cases. He has appealed to Ganesh Mandals to celebrate Ganesh Utsav within the framework of rules.

Police Commissioner Shinde said, “We have had a meeting with Ganesh Mandals. Ganapati Utsav should be celebrated by the rules. Ganapati Mandals appeal that cases of extortion have been registered against some persons while Ganapati is being celebrated. Strict action has been taken against them and shackles have also been put on them. My request is not to forcefully ask for donations, insulting the festival. Otherwise, strict action will be taken.”

“The process of taking action against the criminals is on record. Let’s traditionally celebrate Ganesh Utsav. Drones will be used for crowd management during the Ganpati festival. Moreover, we will also use the CCTV of the Municipal Corporation,” the Police Commissioner informed.
