Pune: Fake Driving School Instructors Arrested From Delhi For Kidnapping Woman IT Engineer

Pune, November 15, 2020: In a shocking incident, a female IT engineer was kidnapped and robbed, under the false pretext of training her to drive a car.

The accused has been identified as Rajesh Singh Mahi (39), resident of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and Krishna Ram Bahadur Rana (30), resident of Mahipalpur, Delhi. Both the accused were arrested by the Pune City Crime branch on Friday.

According to DCP (Crime Branch) Bachchan Singh, the accused had robbed the woman on Tuesday under the false pretext of teaching her how to drive. He took her to Pisoli, about 13 km away from the city, tied her to the car seat in the middle of nowhere. The accused had withdrawn Rs 50,000 from her Google Pay and ATM card and cut off her ring by a cutter. The money and ring, total worth Rs 1.83 lakh, was looted from her.

After robbing the woman, the accused reached Mumbai by cab. Post which, both of them flew to Delhi. The probe revealed that the accused was in Delhi. Under the guidance of DCP Singh, a team reached Delhi by flight and arrested both the accused.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional CP (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP Singh and ACP (Crime 2) Laxman Borate. The team included Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Tasgaonkar, Prasad Lonare, Police Sub Inspector Somnath Shendge, and policemen Mahesh Waghmare, Daya Shegar, Ankush Jogdande and Ajay Gaikwad.
