Pune, June 5, 2020: The work of the Family Court in Pune will start in two shifts from June 8. There will be a shift of four hours. Three courts will start in the morning shift and two courts in the afternoon shift. Emphasis will be placed on resolving court cases through video conferencing. These steps are being taken due to Coronavirus pandemic and lockdown.

It has been suggested that judges and lawyers should increase the use of video conferencing, given the lockdown and social distance rules. The Chief Justice in charge of the Family Court, Subhash Kafre, has issued a circular in this regard. The Family Court will begin functioning as per the directions of the Bombay High Court.

The work will be done from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Only 15% employees will be present in one shift. The family court lawyers’ rooms, information kiosks and child care centers will remain closed until further orders, the circular stated.
